If you haven’t been watching writer, director, and actor Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone, you’ve been missing out! Season 4 of the Paramount Network series shattered records drawing in over 8M viewers amongst all streaming and cable TV platforms.
According to The Hollywood Reporter in Fall 2021, “Episode one drew 8.38 million viewers — the second largest audience for an entertainment series on any broadcast or cable outlet.” In the same season, Yellowstone broke another record, drawing the biggest same-day audience for any cable-scripted series in almost four years.
This chapter of the Yellowstone series was well-received by fans, earning its spot as the top watched show in many places close to where the show takes place, including:
Billings, Butte, Bozeman, Helena, Great Falls, and Missoula, Montana
Casper and Cheyenne, Wyoming
Idaho Falls (Jackson) and Twin Falls, Idaho
But these weren’t the only cities tuning in to all of the action, Yellowstone was also the number one watched show in the following cities across the country including:
Albany, Albuquerque, Amarillo, Anchorage, Austin, Boise, Boston, Buffalo, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Colorado Springs, Columbus, Dallas, Dayton, Denver, Honolulu, Houston, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Kansas City, Little Rock, Minneapolis, Nashville, Oklahoma City, Omaha, Orlando, Phoenix, Portland (OR), Reno, San Antonio, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, St. Louis, and West Palm Beach.
Perhaps, Yellowstone is the great equalizer! From big cities, to small towns, red states and blue states, and everywhere in between (geographically and politically!) everyone can agree on one thing: Kevin Costner does one heck of a job playing an emotionally unavailable patriarch.
So what’s the hype all about and why has it spawned spin-offs including 1883 plus the upcoming 6666 and 1923?
Yellowstone, airing since June 2018, is headlined by Oscar and Emmy winner Kevin Costner as the patriarch of a powerful, complicated family of ranchers. A sixth-generation homesteader and devoted father, Costner’s John Dutton controls the largest ranch in the United States. Dutton’s property is in constant conflict with those it borders — an expanding town, an Indian reservation, and America’s first national park. Yellowstone also features actors Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, and Wes Bentley, in main roles. Not only is Yellowstone a fantastic watch – full of beautiful cinematography – but it also has heart-pumping, suspenseful scenes and characters with depth, humor, and grit.
So how can you watch Yellowstone?
While past seasons of the hit series are available on some other subscription services, you can watch all seasons of Yellowstone on Philo by DVRing the upcoming marathon on Labor Day weekend. Just hit the “save” button, and all episodes will be recorded now, and in the future.
When does Season 5 premiere?
The newest season premieres Sunday, November 13, 2022, on the Paramount Network. At this time, the only way to watch Season 5 live is on Paramount Network, which is available on Philo. Paramount Network is not to be confused with Paramount +, the paid subscription service owned by the Paramount corporation, which does not air episodes of Yellowstone. While old episodes of Yellowstone are available on Peacock, they are not available until after the season has concluded. At the time of posting, Philo is the lowest cost option to watch the upcoming new season live and on-air at just $25/month.
So whether you’re catching up on the Dutton Family drama or watching for the first time, we hope Philo becomes your homestead for the Fall season. Philo also has tons of shows and movies that Yellowstone viewers might enjoy, including Kevin Costner flicks, Westerns, and prestige dramas like Dark Winds.
