The Emmy Awards will be handed out on September 12. If you want to be caught up before the big night, Philo has seven different TV shows available to watch that have earned a total of 28 Emmy nominations. These shows include RuPaul’s Drag Race, Better Call Saul, The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, Gaslit (STARZ add-on), Killing Eve, Deadliest Catch, and Cooper’s Bar. Some of the categories these shows were nominated for included Best Drama Series, Lead Actor in a Drama Series, Lead Actress in a Drama Series as well as Outstanding Short Form Nonfiction or Reality Series – with a wide range of award nominations in between!

RuPaul’s Drag Race (VH1)

Starring: RuPaul

Eight nominations: Outstanding Competition Program, Outstanding Sound Mixing
For A Nonfiction Or Reality Program (Single or Multi-Camera), Outstanding Casting For A Reality Program, Outstanding Directing For A Reality Program, Outstanding Production Design For A Variety, Reality Or Competition Series, Outstanding Cinematography For A Reality Program, Outstanding Picture Editing For A Structured Reality Or Competition Program, and Outstanding Host For A Reality Or Competition Program.

The premise: “RuPaul’s Drag Race” is a reality show in which a group of talented drag queens compete in challenges to impress host RuPaul, the world’s most famous drag queen, to win a cash prize along with a crown and the title of America’s Next Drag Superstar.

Better Call Saul (AMC)

Starring: Bob Odenkirk, Rhea Seehorn, Jonathan Banks

Seven nominations: Best Drama Series, Lead Actor in a Drama Series, Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, Outstanding Music Supervision, Outstanding Sound Editing For A Comedy Or Drama Series (One Hour), and Outstanding Sound Mixing For A Comedy Or Drama Series (One Hour).
The premise: He wasn’t always Saul Goodman, ace attorney for chemist-turned-meth dealer Walter White. Six years before he begins to represent Albuquerque’s most notorious criminal, Goodman is Jimmy McGill, a small-time attorney hustling to make a name for himself.

The Daily Show with Trevor Noah (Comedy Central)

Starring: Trevor Noah

Four nominations: Outstanding Picture Editing For Variety Programming, Outstanding Variety Talk Series, Outstanding Technical Direction, Camerawork, Video Control For A Series, and Outstanding Writing For A Variety Series.

The premise: Hosted by Trevor Noah since 2015, “The Daily Show” is an Emmy- and Peabody Award-winning program that examines the day’s biggest news stories in politics, pop culture, entertainment, sports and more.

Gaslit (STARZ*)

Starring: Sean Penn, Julia Roberts

Four nominations: Outstanding Cinematography For A Limited Or Anthology Series Or Movie, Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup, Outstanding Sound Editing For A Limited Or Anthology Series, Movie Or Special, and Outstanding Sound Mixing For A Limited Or Anthology Series Or Movie.
The premise: A modern take on the 1970s political Watergate scandal, including untold stories and forgotten characters of the time.

Killing Eve (BBC America)

Starring: Sandra Oh, Jodie Comer

Two nominations: Lead Actress in a Drama Series (twice)
The premise: Eve’s life as a spy is not adding up to what she had hoped it would be when she started. She is a bored, very smart, MI5 security officer who is very desk-bound. Villanelle is a very talented killer, mercurial in mood, who clings to the luxuries of her job. Eve and Villanelle go head to head in a fierce game of cat and mouse, each woman equally obsessed with the other as Eve is tasked with hunting down the psychopathic assassin.

Deadliest Catch (Discovery)

Featuring the fishing crews around Alaska

Two nominations: Outstanding Cinematography For A Reality Program and Outstanding Picture Editing For An Unstructured Reality Program.
The premise: Before complaining about the market price of Alaska king crab, check out this gripping documentary series, revealing the mortal perils and intense discomfort that fishing crews face on the Bering Sea to catch the delicacy. Those perils include 40-foot waves, 700-pound crab pots that can easily crush a careless crewman, and freezing temperatures around the clock.

Cooper’s Bar (AMC)

Starring: David Conolly, Kila Kitu, Luis Mustilo, Rhea Seehorn

One nomination: Outstanding Actress In A Short Form Comedy Or Drama Series
The premise: When Kris Latimer, the biggest jerk in Hollywood, stumbles upon Cooper Marino’s backyard tiki bar oasis, Cooper and his down-on-their-luck pals pull themselves together for one last shot at their “big break.”
